Would you like to give Dominion Energy feedback on the Roanoke Rapids and Lake Gaston Shoreline Management Plan? This opportunity comes around every five years, and Dominion Energy has scheduled two public input meetings to be held on September 23rd at 5 PM and September 30th at 10 AM, at the Lake Gaston Baptist Church, 2378 Eatons Ferry Road, Littleton, NC 27850.
Dominion operates under the authority of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and must execute a Shoreline Management Plan that guides shoreline development while protecting water quality, wildlife and fisheries habitat, and recreational access. The plan includes a permitting process that balances resource protection with shoreline uses and public access.
FERC requires that Dominion accept public input every five years on its plan and procedures. Dominion owns the shoreline and the lake floor, and anyone who has a permit must adhere to the permit’s requirements. If you have applied for or are already a permit holder, then you should be familiar with Dominion’s Construction and Use Procedures. Dominion also has specific requirements for managing aquatic vegetation along the shoreline. These are the areas where most folks have firsthand experience working with Dominion.
So now is your chance to share your input on Dominion’s Shoreline Management Plan. After all, eighty percent of success is showing up!
