Hello LGA members! Let me introduce myself. My name is Daniel “Scooter” Boham, and I am your new LGA President! I have served as your Vice President for the past two years, and Jeff Zimmer, who has been an amazing leader and President, will now serve the LGA as your VP. Please join me in showing Jeff appreciation and gratitude for all his volunteer efforts, work, and leadership with both the LGA and the LGWCC. I am proud to also inform you that the LGA Board of Directors, Executive Director, and Committee Chairs will remain in place as they continue to be an amazing team serving the LGA membership and all Lake Gaston Stakeholders. I was born in Portsmouth, VA, and graduated with honors from CHS and then served my Machinist apprenticeship at NNSY, where I was promoted to Nuclear Machinist upon graduating as Valedictorian of my machinist class of 1982 and Honors of my total NNSY graduating class, and soon promoted to the NNSY Nuclear Tiger Team servicing our USN Nuclear Submarine program. In the fall of 1985, I chose to build myself a small home on Lake Gaston in Wildwood Point. I was a machinist and mold maker for WR Grace/Flambeau Airmold for 10 years before accepting a Maintenance Machinist position with Champion International Paper Mill in Roanoke Rapids, NC. In January of 2000, I transferred my position and job to another Champion mill in Pensacola, Florida, where I worked until December 2007 before becoming President, CEO, and Owner of Infinity Optical Alignment, Inc. in Pensacola, FL. In my 10 years as Owner and President of Infinity, I expanded, built, and operated a very successful company. I spent many of my young years enjoying Lake Gaston as an avid water sports enthusiast and have been a competition member of the APBA, PPBA, SMBC, ODBA, and IOGP for many years, and currently am a participant in the Vintage and Historic APBA Outboard Category. I thoroughly enjoy boating and lake life! It has always been a passion of mine! My wife Carla and I purchased a lake home in Pretty Creek in 2013, knowing that one day we would retire and live back at the lake again. After selling my company, we made the final move full-time in 2020. I quickly began giving back and volunteering at our church, President of our HOA, volunteering for the GLDP, 911 task force, LGA, and the LGWCC. I fought hard for funding from Halifax County Commissioners for the weed and algae control. I then became the VP of the LGA, working with some amazing people who all have the same goal: Connecting Community/Preserving Paradise! I look forward to meeting many more members and working to maintain the lake’s water quality, recreation, preservation, and health, and am asking for everyone’s support of the LGA! We have many new membership meetings coming in the months ahead, so stay tuned!

Meet our new LGA President!
