The LGA received the following message from Dominion Energy:
Β
"As you may have noticed, lake levels have been averaging on the lower half of the normal range, and with the start of spawning flows and with expected higher temperatures and the continuing lack of rain they will remain low. While normal levels can go as low as 199.0, the license allows for the lake level to drop as low as 198.0 for short periods of time. Roanoke Rapids Lake is experiencing the same conditions. As the operators juggle generation and spawning flows, they will be working hard to meet the various requirements of the FERC license including lake levels, minimum flows and spawning flows into the bypassed reach of the river. Drought conditions have not been declared by the Corps, but the entire watershed is very dry at a time when trees are pulling water from the ground to leaf out, so we are not expecting flow to increase for a number of weeks."
